The Plymouth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open

"For Competitors By Competitors"

The Plymouth Open was original conceived by BJJ Black Belt Tom Barlow several years ago.

Tom, an active BJJ competitor, had to travel up and down the country and all around the world to compete.

As his Academy grew in popularity he didn’t want his students to have to go through the same struggles that he did when he started competing. This is what led to the idea of the south west open.

Until recently December 2012, he had held off the idea of running a BJJ tournament. Instead focusing on developing BJJ in the South West and helping the South West BJJ community to grow.

Over the past few years Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Devon & Cornwall has grown dramatically. The south west can now boast home grown black belts, some very successful schools and hundreds of Jiu Jitsu practitioner’s. However, the closest competition remains in Bristol.

Until Now.

Our next event will be The Plymouth Open 02: No Gi Jiu Jitsu Championship taking place on Sunday 17th November 2013 at Plymouth Life Centre.
